Numerous LED lighting products with inferior quality, shortened lifetime, and patent infringing technologies made in China have entered the market. These products present a tremendous risk to customers' financial responsibility to support maintenance and warranty claims as a result of shortened lifetime or inferior performance as well as providing customers legal protections against infringing a patent. Axiom NZ LED and led high bay light reconfirmed that they are continuing to support the use of high reliability long-lifetime patented LED technology of Nichia LED of Japan and innovative patented weather resistant connector technology by Zeirick of New York. Nichia and Zeirick technologies are used on all Axiom NZ LED and AoTuroa LED white light products.
"It is illegal to sell, buy or even use a knock-off or imitation purse," joked Stephanie Prather, Director of AoTuroaLED Limited. "Knock-off purses are sold on street corners by people avoiding the law. Both sellers as well as buyers know it is illegal, yet they do it anyway. Most times companies are unaware the LED products they bought are cheap and usually inferior knock-offs. Axiom NZ LED and AoTuroaLED using Nichia of Japan LEDs and Zeirick connectors is akin to playing sports fair and honest. Other companies that use LED or electronic products that infringe patents are no different than the illegal practice of playing professional sports using steroids.
We find it amusing that knock off technologies are claiming that Nichia LED patents are expiring—they are not," added Dane Cardone, CEO of AoTuroa LED USA. "That would be like suggesting that Microsoft's patents are expiring because they invented their software in the 1970s. They continue to enhance their intellectual property portfolio by LED high bay lighting patenting more technologies. Microsoft recently issued a license to a HTC, a Chinese/Taiwanese mobile phone company, that was infringing their patents for a product that uses a Google operating system. Nichia like Microsoft protects its intellectual property – at AoTuroaLED and Axiom NZ LED we are proud to use Nichia LEDs.

they have bargained for the price of these key materials
The similar trend is now evident in the supply of consumables, specifically the metal-organic material led high bay light and sapphire wafers. The demand for TMG already exceeds the available supply, therefore manufacturers need to absorb a 20% price increase in the near term.
The paper also predicts that a shortage of sapphire wafers, upon which most blue and white LEDs are produced, is also likely in the second half of 2010. And Taiwan LED manufacturers in particular need to adjust to the new reality of the supply chain. Historically, they have bargained for the price of these key materials.
However, the balance of power in the LED industry has changed, with competitors backed by huge corporations, such as Samsung and LG, much better positioned to absorb higher material costs and to guarantee their supply in a constrained market.Capacity expansions already in progress should relieve these constraints by mid-2011. Until then, the average selling price of high-brightness LEDs based on gallium nitride should hold up well, according to the predict.
Jonathan Reckford, the CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, noted that Cree is partnering with Habitat affiliates to provide lighting products that enable more energy-efficient homes. Products and materials that reduce energy costs make homes even more affordable for LED high bay lighting partner families and also help to protect the environment. This is going to make a huge impact in helping the company develop sustainable communities.

LED display video walls and cars illuminating the streets with LED headlights
The prospects of the LED market remain bright. Market researchers forecast a threefold increase up to almost 13 billion Euros by 2012 for light emitting diodes (LEDs) and organic LED high bay lighting). These technologies offer a particularly small size, a long lifetime and top levels of energy-efficiency, thus opening up new applications and new markets. As YAHAM CEO Martin Goetzeler proclaimed, “We are shaping the lighting market of the future and we are a leading manufacturer in all stages of the LED value chain. We already achieve 17 percent of our sales with Solid State Lighting. In connection with classic technologies, our LED portfolio of products, systems and solutions will raise energy saving potential for lighting up to 60 percent. This represents a major contribution to climate protection.” The list of LED applications keeps on expanding: architectural lighting, backlight displays, mobile terminal devices, solid state lighting, automotive lighting and many more to come. Today, we already see projectors being lit up by LEDs, advertising boards being replaced by LED display video walls and cars illuminating the streets with LED headlights.
Cost, and more so the talented and experienced workforces are all in favour of Penang when it comes to choosing the site for our new facility,” said Dr Ruediger Mueller, CEO of YAHAM Opto Semiconductors. “But it was also the long-term partnership with the Malaysian authorities that made it the top choice, after all we have operated in Penang for over 30 years.”
The opening ceremony was held on site in Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone of Penang. Representatives of the workforce were also present to witness the momentous event. The employees of the LED linear high bay light assembly plant together with their new colleagues in the chip manufacturing facility were thrilled to be part of the world’s most advanced LED chip plant and the growing market.

the deviation from specific chromaticity coordinates
Since the chromaticity of a white led high bay lights is determined by a combination of many elements configuring the product such as a light-emitting device, phosphor, and encapsulation resin, a complicated process control is also needed to control those elements. We developed Surface Mount LED chips in 1983, and since then we have brought out a wide variety of products as a leading manufacturer of LED packages. Using basic studies and innovations of our accumulated high-precision processing technology and manufacturing technology has allowed us to finally achieve mass production with the chromaticity standard of about a ninth of the conventional chromaticity range by controlling the deviation from specific chromaticity coordinates and “elaborating” the products.
This will enable us to stably produce and offer a white LED that has the least variation in chromaticity while keeping the production cost low by discontinuing the “sorting” process before shipment. We believe that at the destination sites it will be possible to use separate LED colors with high accuracy and that will help to produce quality lighting equipment. Citizen Electronics Co., Ltd will start color control using “3-Step MacAdam ellipses” at the mass production level, taking the initiative in the lighting industry.
Nowadays the use of white LEDs in general lighting is rapidly progressing. There is always a possibility that a great deal of interest will be focused on the LED’s energy-saving performance based on its high luminous efficacy. However, we consider that it is very important to offer quality products stably with no variation in color as well as improving the luminous efficacy. Citizen Electronics Co., Ltd will continue to utilize the “LED linear high bay light” tradition of “Precision Engineering Technology”, and advance the development of high-quality LED products as light sources for general lighting.
